Joan Bobyn

Joan was always a maker of things sewn and knitted, without formal training. Moving to Victoria from Saskatchewan in 2013, she began growing her own dyestuffs, weaving, and foraging the forests and beaches of Vancouver Island. Her work ranges from hand-stitched traditional kilts to wall hangings and sculptural objects.

Statement

In my work, I use natural fibres, plant and fungal dyes, and foraged finds from the forests and beaches of Vancouver Island.
